Some patients may experience temporary sensitivity, while other patients may not even notice anything at all. For most people, the sensitivity is gone within 48 hours. If you find your teeth to be sensitive after the whitening treatment, you are able to ease the discomfort by using Sensodyne toothpaste or by taking Ibuprofen/Advil.
Clinical research shows that whitening treatments, when monitored by a dental professional, do not harm the enamel.
NO. Only natural teeth can be whitened. This means fillings, crowns, veneers, ETC will remain the same after you whiten. It is very important and highly suggested that you work with your current Dentist to determine how a whitening treatment will affect your smile. If you currently need to have any treatment done in the front of your teeth (crowns, fillings ETC), I recommend to have your teeth whitened FIRST that way your Dentist can match the shade you are currently at.
As a dental professional, I highly recommend that any patient should have a cleaning prior to having their teeth whitened. If you have been seen within the last 6 months and or have been seen twice within the last year by your Dentist and do not currently need any dental work completed, you are a candidate for teeth whitening.
Everybody is different! For most people, teeth whitening can last anywhere between 3-6 months and sometimes even longer. However, this all depends on each individual’s lifestyle habits. If you smoke, drink coffee/tea, wine, colored staining foods ETC, you will most likely see a change in your teeth color in as little as 3 months. Maintaining your periodic dental cleanings will help prolong your teeth whitening. Having teeth whitening touch ups are needed if you wish to maintain or get to a certain shade.
Hydrogen Peroxide will be used rather than Carbamide Peroxide. Carbamide Peroxide and is sold over the counter at your local stores such as Crest Whitening Strips and other whitening products that you see being sold via Amazon, Target, Walmart ETC. Hydrogen Peroxide is only used and monitored by dental professionals as it has a faster chemical reaction than Carbamide Peroxide. This is the “instant results” you want to see.
A SMILE IS THE PRETTIEST THING YOU CAN WEAR.
I bring all the supplies and equipment to you. Travel fee will be waived within a 15 mile radius, $20 to be applied beyond that. Average cost of in-office teeth whitening in the Bay Area starts at $500+.
